M14 magazine question
I have ran across a few M14 magazines for sale and i was wondering if they would fit and feed smoothly in my M1A?
Can't seem to find the answer online so i figured this would be a good place to ask. |
Re: M14 magazine question
They should be fine. Buy them quick. The economy could collapse any minute.

Re: M14 magazine question
An M1a by any other name is...an M14.
The ATF boys wouldn't let Elmer Ballance (founder of Springfield, Inc, and the man behind the M1a) use M14 for his commercial semi auto rifles, so he chose M1a. Parts, including mags, are interchangeable. Check out www.m14tfl.com for a quick tutorial on real USGI mags vs. fakes. Don't waste your money on fakes, get the real deal. USGI will have 12 spot welds up the front spline of the mag, with one offset next to the hole for the end of the op rod spring guide. If you find a 'SA', TRW, R bar, or BRW B2 stamped mag let me know, I collect and would pay a handsome price for one of them. |
Re: M14 magazine question
The original USGI mags are good to go but the CMI (current mil contract) are just as good and almost half the price. Be ware of the cheap fakes. As stated above, the welds hold the key.

Re: M14 magazine question
CMI are USGI.
The current production are about as good as the VN era mags. Those from the early 2000s are not. Spring problems that have been rectified. |
